Kick off your journey from Mad Monkey Hanoi, bonding with your fellow adventurers on a 6-7 hour bus ride to Ha Giang city. The trip includes a comfy pit-stop for refreshments and a stretch.
Arriving at your welcoming homestay, take the evening to unwind and gear up for the excitement that awaits with the break of dawn!
(~100km) Ha Giang – Du Gia (B,L,D)
Slowly navigate the winding road to Bac Sum Pass, where challenging hairpin curves await. Take a turn onto a newly opened path built during the pandemic, largely unknown to many. You’ll be instantly immersed in breathtaking scenery that continues to amaze! Depending on the weather, a 700-meter trek is a must if you want to swim at Khau Lan Waterfall.
Next, head to a coffee shop with stunning views at Heaven’s Gate, followed by a quick hike to a viewpoint where you can admire the Fairy Hills and the beautiful landscapes of Tam Son town, featuring endless rice fields and layers of mountains that rise 1,000 meters above sea level.
Enjoy lunch in the charming town of Tam Son at 12:00 p.m.
After lunch, hop back on the bike, stopping briefly to capture photos of Duong Thuong Village, where the H’mong people have lived for generations. We’ll arrive at our destination for the day in the late afternoon.
End the day with a lovely dinner at a local homestay, which also offers the North’s famous “Happy Water” (a non-preservative beer).

Stop at a former French military post to capture some photos of the surrounding area. After fifteen more kilometers, we’ll pause at a coffee shop where you can enjoy a beautiful landscape featuring terraced rice fields and stunning layers of rocky limestone mountains.

Next, embark on a boat trip to admire the breathtaking scenery of the Nho Que River and the magnificent beauty of Tu San Alley, renowned as the deepest canyon in Southeast Asia. As you journey along the river, you’ll experience one of the most beautiful passes in Vietnam: Ma Pi Leng Pass, also known as “The Road of Happiness,” which lies along National Road 4C.
Before arriving in Dong Van district, we’ll stop to enjoy the panoramic views from the Sky Walk, one of the highest points on Ma Pi Leng Pass.
At night, we’ll stay locally in the area, allowing us to fully appreciate the scenery rather than just passing through.

After breakfast, we’ll continue southeast to the border between Vietnam and China, where our tour guide will share fascinating stories. Along the same route, we’ll stop at Thien Huong Village, nearly 200 years old. We’ll then travel twenty more kilometers to the Lung Cu Flag Pole for a quick hike and some stunning photos of the surrounding area.
Next, we’ll enjoy lunch at Lo Lo Chai Village, where you can see the traditional clay houses of the H’mong people.
After lunch, we’ll visit the H’mong King’s Palace to learn more about the history and culture of the H’mong hill tribe. We’ll also stop to take pictures at Tham Ma Pass, known for its interesting geosites and impressive cliffs, featuring a “try not to fall” challenge for those riding their own bikes!
Before arriving at Nam Dam Village, we’ll take a break at Can Ty Pass for a cup of coffee. This scenic spot offers stunning views and is nestled in the hills of the Nam Dam community-based cultural village, an untouched gem showcasing the beautiful natural landscape and traditional cultural features of the Dao people.
We’ll enjoy a delightful dinner and spend the night in Nam Dam Village.

We’ll start the day with a 4-kilometer hike to Lung Khuy Cave, helping you burn approximately 326 calories and work off some of last night’s meal. The area around the cave features a stunning karst landscape, including peaks, dolines, hanging valleys, and travertine terraces, all situated at an elevation of 850 to 1,100 meters above sea level. As you explore the cave, you’ll be serenaded by the soothing melody of water dripping from the ceiling.
After burning those calories, it will be time for lunch in Quan Ba District to replenish your energy before heading back to Ha Giang.

- What’s in it for you?
Transport to and from Hanoi, motorcycle rental including gasoline, English speaking tour guide, entry fees, all meals on itinerary and accommodation.
- Do I need travel insurance?
Travel Insurance is NOT included. We strongly recommend that you have your own travel insurance against illness, injury, loss/damage to personal belongings and not being able to travel on confirmed departure dates.
- What should I bring?
A comfortable pair of shoes is a MUST, guests arriving with flip flops or open toed shoes will not be allowed to participate in the tour. We also recommend some money for extra food, drinks or souvenirs. Warm clothes are required year round (it can get cold in the mountains). Note: self-riders MUST bring their domestic driving license.
