While many Thai dishes feature some type of meat, there are surprisingly a number of delicious and meat-free restaurants challenging everything we carnivores thought we knew about our diets. The vegetarian and vegan scene in Bangkok is thriving in a country known for its meaty dishes, and many restaurants in the capital are astounding diners with their unique, plant-based menus. With that being said, check out the best vegetarian restaurants in Bangkok.

Vegetarian Restaurants in Bangkok: Ethos

If you are searching for a unique vegan dining experience, look no further than Ethos. Visitors can not miss the entrance of this eatery, as the exterior is adorned with hanging green foliage that certainly adds to the veggie vibe. Hanging romantic and red lights make it the perfect spot for a meat-free date. Plenty of plush pillows on the floor make the venue a great place to come with friends and chow down, as well.

The Menu

This vegetarian bakery and cafe serenade diners with lounge and world music as they indulge in any one of the tasty and organic finds at Ethos. While all of the meat-free dishes on the menu are raved about, we recommend the vegan pancakes and salad. Both of which were incredibly delicious and surprisingly healthy. The friendly staff is at the ready to make all dishes vegan upon request, as well. You can expect to find Thai, Indian, Eastern, and Western meat-free finds on the menu. Wash these down with a fruit shake or finish your meal with a home-baked treat.

Vegetarian Restaurants in Bangkok: Veganerie Concept

Vegan food does not get much more delicious than that found at Veganerie Concept. Its menu is equipped with one of the largest selections of faux meat in the capital. This is refreshing in comparison to the vegetable-heavy dishes vegetarian travellers are used to in Southeast Asia. The business is a family one, with almost every member of the family being vegetarian or vegan. Mother and co-founder, Kalayanee, chose to be vegan. Her health started to improve immensely. Soon afterwards, she decided to open the restaurant. She did so in hopes that others might change their diets, as well. Since opening, Veganerie has expanded and now operates several branches across Bangkok, including locations near Sukhumvit and popular shopping districts.

Vegetarian Restaurants in Bangkok: Rasayana Raw Cafe

While vegan and vegetarian food tends to be healthier, no venues take clean eating to the same level as Rasayana Raw Cafe. This outdoor eatery is in the bustling Sukhumvit area. You would not guess this when entering this garden oasis in the capital, however. It is here that you can indulge in food that is unprocessed and unpasteurized. The food does not contain animal products, wheat, gluten, or dairy, as well. Last but not least, none of the food has been heated above 42° Celcius. This means that the meals will still have the nutrients in them that would otherwise be destroyed when cooked.

Vegetarian Restaurants in Bangkok: May Veggie Home

Vegan food is hard to come by in Bangkok, let alone delicious vegan food.  For the most part, veg-heads are left to fend for themselves in this city. That being said, we found one of the most delicious vegan restaurants in Bangkok: May Veggie Home. “Cute” is the word that comes to mind when stepping foot into one of the best vegan restaurants in town. Even the name is cute. May Veggie Home’s food packs a very powerful, delicious punch into every dish, however. The restaurant first opened off the BTS Skytrain stop Thonglor in 2013 before moving to Asok in 2014. The restaurant has been pleasing vegetarian appetites in the city ever since.

Vegetarian Restaurants in Bangkok: Govinda Restaurant & Pizzeria

One food item that vegans seem to miss most from their carnivorous glory days is cheese. What dairy-free diners would do to be able to delve into a cheese board without any moral or digestive repercussions! Now they can, however, thanks to Govinda Restaurant & Pizzeria. This Italian restaurant would impress even the most cheese-loving of diners with their faux, dairy-free version of this food we all know and love. Though the restaurant’s interior is lacking any true charm, it does not have to impress visitors with cool decor when their food is that good.

The Menu

The menu at Govinda is broken up into an intimidating number of sections, but it has all the fixings that acclaimed Italian restaurants seemingly have. Kick-start a meal with bread or appetizers, featuring pizza bread (฿120), Schiacciata (฿145), or the bruschetta Margherita (฿155). All can be made vegan. There are a total of 21 pizzas on the menu, ranging from ฿205 to ฿ 390, as well. You can add extra toppings or enjoy a whole wheat crust if you so please. There are also soups, salads, pasta, specialty pasta, home-made gnocchi, risotto, main courses, side dishes, and egg-free desserts on the menu. The most impressive section we think of is the soy meat section. From grilled soy sausages to soy snow fish with tomato, garlic, olives, and chilli, one cannot go wrong by exploring these seemingly meaty yet meat-free options.
