Where is Mad Monkey Bangkok?

Our hostel is located right in the heart of the action for backpackers in Bangkok, just minutes away from the legendary Khao San Road. The hostel itself sits on a peaceful bend of Phra Sumen Road overlooking the canal and a few metres from a historic fort and a park on the Phra Sumen River.

Our vibrant neighbourhood is full of restaurants, cafes, shops, convenience stores, and more — anything you’re looking for can be found within walking distance.

How to get to Mad Monkey Bangkok

From Suvarnabhumi Airport, you can take a taxi (running meter is usually cheaper than a set fee). Give the driver Mad Monkey’s address (included below in Thai). Note that you must pay in Thai Baht and the total price on the meter will not include the airport surcharge and toll fees (if you take a route with tolls). You can also take the Airport Rail Link, which is a cheaper option. Take the City Line, get off at Phaya Thai BTS Station. From Phaya Thai you can (1) take a taxi or tuk-tuk to Mad Monkey or (2) take Bus #59 to Khao San (Khok Wua Junction on Ratchadamnoen Klang Rd), then walk from Khan San Road to Mad Monkey (about 10 minutes). The last option is to take Bus # S1: You can take this bus at the airport from Gate 7 on the 1st floor. Get off at Phra Sumen Road stop and walk towards the river until you reach Mad Monkey (a few minutes).

If you’re coming from Don Mueang Airport, take a taxi (details above) or take Bus #A4: You can take this bus at the airport from Gate 12. Get off at Phra Sumen Road stop and walk towards the river until you reach Mad Monkey (a few minutes).

From Mo Chit Bus Terminal, take a taxi or Bus #3. You can get on Bus #3 from inside Mo Chit Terminal. Get off at Chakrabongse Road (behind Khao San Road) or Bang Lamphu, which is the closest bus stop to Mad Monkey. It’s about a 5 minute walk to the hostel from here. Walk towards Phra Sumen Fort (Pom Phra Sumen) and you will see Mad Monkey.

From Ekkamai Bus Terminal, take a taxi or Bus #2 or #511: You can get on Bus #2 or #511 outside the terminal but on the same side of the road. Get off at Khok Wua Junction on Ratchadamnoen Klang Road. From here it’s about a 10 minute walk to Mad Monkey (head towards Phra Sumen Fort (Pom Phra Sumen) and you’ll see the hostel).

Mad Monkey Bangkok

When traveling the best times are made by the people you meet and experiences you have. Fortunately, Mad Monkey has a team of hosts and staff that will make you feel welcome and included from the moment you check in.Jack, Martino, and Nikayla all immediately introduced themselves to me, showed me around the city, local food spots and fun night life activities. I was literally halfway across the world and never felt more at home.If you are solo traveling or looking for friends to meet along the way of your travels look no further than the friendly smiling faces you will encounter at Mad Monkey. Have fun and safe travels :)

This place was fun!! But also a healthy balance to find tours or just sightsee. Joke pronounced Jack was super helpful with ideas to explore the city and things to watch out for. As far as the hostel vibe and nightlife Nicaela kept things fun and lively. Not sure how she keeps the fun going day after day but by the end of your trip you will be calling her your friend. She also planned a fun social dinner at this bbq place near the river.. that was an adventure on its own. Full staff was amazing. Hostel bar made good drinks. Food was good and on par with local eateries. Beds were on the firm side. Rooms average plus for a hostel. Awesome pool. Security was never an issue. Good location. Easy walk to Khaosan road. Close enough to easily get anywhere by quick taxi, grab, or tuk tuk. Will miss this place and the friends I made at Mad Monkey. Well done Bangkok.

4 dorm room was lovely, enough space for everyone, nice bathroom, compared to other dorms, really top!Location is amazing, close to the center (khao san road) but still quiet. Excellent street food just out of the door. And the best thing is the community, just spent 2 days there but met lots of lovely people. Its just nice to hang out at the pool or the bar and people will start getting in touch. They have free activities to join almost every day (beer pong, free shots, free sightseeing tour -> shoutout to Nicaela :)Very recommended place to stay if you are an open person willing to meet people and having a good time!
