CUSTOMS & ETIQUETTE

Bali’s Hindu culture is deeply rooted in daily life, with rituals, offerings, and ceremonies happening throughout the island. Temples are sacred spaces, so visitors should dress modestly, covering shoulders and knees, and always wear a sarong if required. Avoid stepping on or over offerings (canang sari) that you’ll find on the ground, as they are sacred to the Balinese. It’s also important to respect the quiet during ceremonies and to follow the locals’ lead in behavior. Being mindful of these customs shows respect for Bali’s rich traditions and helps preserve the island’s cultural integrity.
