CHIANG MAI, Thailand – 8th June 2018

Mad Monkey Hostels has signed a new property management agreement with MK Properties to open the first Mad Monkey Hostel in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

The 207-bed hostel, set to open in July 2018, will be conveniently situated near the center of Chiang Mai city. It will be within walking distance of Thapae Gate, Sunday Walking Street, and Chiang Mai Night Bazaar. The hostel is ten minutes from the Chiang Mai airport and bus terminals, offering a speedy and convenient connection for Mad Monkey guests to other Thai cities.
Alex Darroch, CEO of Mad Monkey Hostels Thailand said, “Since Mad Monkey Thailand was established in Bangkok in 2017 we have been searching for the right property in Chiang Mai to establish our second Mad Monkey in Thailand. The majority of our guests visit Chiang Mai on their Southeast Asian backpacking route and we want to present them with the number one party hostel in the city and provide the outstanding social atmosphere that we are known for.”
Mad Monkey guests will be provided with a large number of tour options including visits to the Elephant Rescue Sanctuary, trekking, cooking classes and Mad Monkey’s own Chiang Mai tours & events. The expansion increases Mad Monkey’s annual beds in Thailand to over 130,000 and brings Mad Monkey International to over 438,000 nights per annum as they expand into other international locations.
Satin Walia, Managing Director of MK Properties and the owner of the new Mad Monkey Hostel in Chiang Mai said, “We are incredibly excited to bring the famous Mad Monkey brand to Chiang Mai. Mad Monkey is a well known and highly respected hostel brand in South East Asia and Mad Monkey’s socially responsible business model combined with their impressive reputation in successfully running busy social hostels meant that Mad Monkey was our first choice of partner for this flagship property. We welcome them and assure them of a pleasant and prosperous business relationship”
Facilities at the new Mad Monkey Chiang Mai will include a large bar, restaurant, swimming pool, beer pong table, active gym and yoga area for guests, discounts for Mad Monkey club members on stays and activities, and a range of room and dorm configurations. Bookings can be made now for dates after July 1st, 2018.
Chiang Mai is the key economic, communications, cultural, and tourism center of Northern Thailand.
